The branch is a structural subdivision of the RSE “NCCPMR RK”, carrying out scientific and technical activities in the field of the mining and metallurgical complex.
The main stage of development:
1958 – established by Resolution No. 843 of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR to provide scientific support to the metallurgical and chemical industries of Central Kazakhstan.
1993 – ncluded in the National Center for Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan by Resolution No. 642 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2012 – reorganized as a branch of the RSE “NCCPMR RK” by Government Resolution No. 315 and Order No. 61 of the RSE “NCCPMR RK” dated August 23, 2012.

The State Scientific and Production Association of Industrial Ecology "Kazmekhanobr" was founded in 1958.
It is a branch of the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the Committee of Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan – the State Scientific and Production Association of Industrial Ecology "Kazmekhanobr" (Kazmekhanobr).
1958 – Branch of the All-Union Scientific Research and Design Institute of Mechanical Processing of Minerals "Mekhanobr".
1966 – Kazmekhanobr State Scientific Research and Design Institute for the Enrichment of Non-Ferrous Metal Ores.
1992 – Transferred to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the main organization for ecology.
1998 – Transferred to the Ministry of Science – Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1999 – Became part of the RSE "NC KPMS RK" of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2000 – Became a subsidiary state enterprise of RSE "NC KPMS RK".
2012 – Branch of RSE "NC KPMS RK" GNPOPE "Kazmekhanobr".
The origins of the association date back to October 30, 1958, when by Order No. 585 of the State Planning Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, Kazmekhanobr was established in Alma-Ata as a branch of the All-Union Scientific Research and Design Institute of Mechanical Processing of Minerals "Mekhanobr".
Due to the development of the mining and metallurgical industry in the Kazakh SSR and the need for extensive research, design, and development work in ore processing of ferrous, non-ferrous, and rare metals, on September 16, 1966, by Order No. 565 of the Ministry of Non-Ferrous Metallurgy of the USSR, the Kazakh branch of the Mekhanobr Institute was reorganized into the Kazmekhanobr State Scientific Research and Design Institute for the Enrichment of Non-Ferrous Metal Ores.
Today, Kazmekhanobr is a large scientific and production association, including research and design divisions, an experimental plant equipped with modern equipment, and highly qualified personnel.

Vniitsvetmet was established in 1950 to develop the lead and zinc industry of the USSR. In 1955, the Institute became the head institute for the lead-zinc sub-branch of the USSR Ministry of Non-Ferrous Metallurgy. He was responsible for improving the technological processes and equipment of enterprises in the country's lead-zinc sub-sector. Later, a unique test site was created within the institute – an Experimental lead Plant, which included a processing plant, a hydrometallurgical, smelting and experimental mechanical workshops.
